Trying out the old-fashioned stilts

It finally arrived! The date for our 3rd annual Prairie-fest rolled around and many came to join in the fun!

Dressed as pioneers,  families across Illinois and neighboring states engaged in amusement and festivities from that era.

Hayrides were enjoyed off and on all afternoon and evening

Many enjoyed the prayer walk through Minikin Rill trail while reflecting on our Creator God.

The scavenger hunt was a big hit once again.

The young ones really enjoyed petting and feeding the barnyard animals- especially the new bunny corral!

Several helped with the evening feeding

Grandpa's School of Old Fashioned Tools was a new addition to the fare this year as well.

And most everyone found their perfect pumpkin in the pumpkin patch!

This year, there were even more pioneer era activities in which to engage oneself!

Doing laundry the old fashioned way

Using the two man crosscut saw requires teamwork!

It's a challenge to walk on stilts!

Carding wool was a favorite!

Trying to capture the pig was quite fun!

Using the drop spindle takes some patience and skill!

Graces requires just that. . . grace!

The Straw Bale Maze was in a different location with a different twist!

There was plenty of time to fellowship or relax around the fire on bales of hay.

with an open fire for cooking.

Later, we enjoyed a story and devotion as well as live music around the campfire with lots of fellowship and inspiration!

Adult and child size Prairie Bonnets, Straw Hats, and T-shirts were available for purchase at the Peddler Shop along with games of graces, drop spindles, Jacob Sheep wool, baked goods and many more items.  Amanda was our friendly face in the Peddler Shop again this year.
