Jennifer and Joel's Wedding

After singing at the Edward's County Fair Gospel Night on Thursday evening, the wedding of Jennifer, Mark's niece, brought us to Ohio to play and sing during the prelude of her big day. (Of course we would not have missed it anyway!) We were delighted to be able to celebrate with her, and left very early Friday morning to arrive in time to have some practice time at the church before the ceremony started. The drive to Ohio passed quickly. Before we arrived, we made a pit stop at a McDonald's in Xenia to refresh ourselves.

Unbeknownst to Amanda, plans for a surprise had been in the making for quite some time. Ryan was "supposed" to be travelling to Nashville for a recording engagement with his colleagues. He and Mark had previously made arrangements to meet at this particular McDonald's restaurant for a big surprise! As we stood milling around some computer type children's contrivances, we tried to keep Amanda focused while Ryan slipped up behind her. He reached around from behind and presented her with a shiny apple and these words. . . "I would have been here sooner, but it was hard work searching for the perfect apple."
(Romantic sigh would be appropriate here.)

Amanda was totally speechless! She was so surprised that she did not know what to do! The surprise was a great success, and Ryan was able to spend a nice weekend in Ohio with us meeting Mark's side of the family. (If you do not understand the significance of the apple, you can find that here.)

Later that evening, the wedding progressed smoothly and we were happy to see Jennifer and Joel joined together in holy matrimony. Sadly, the flash had been turned off on our camera, and our pictures from the ceremony were inferior. Nevertheless, we have memories stored in the recesses of our gray matter!!

The beautifully decorated reception followed.

Emilee looked all grown up in her bridesmaid attire.

Lots of dancing was enjoyed by all. Mamaw even persuaded Ryan to dance a fast one with her!

Rachel had loads of fun visiting and fellowshiping with family.

We learned that Noah is expecting a new sister. Congratulations Kristie and Eric!
Best wishes Jennifer and Joel! We pray that God blesses your new life together!
