A Short Visit

On their way back to Joplin, Mark, Haylee, and Wilson made a pitstop at Providence Prairie.  Mark and Wilson were to return the next day after depositing Haylee safely at Ozark Christian College.  During that time, we were quite entertained by the antics of Wilson!

He has such an engaging smile.

He enjoyed sorting the fruit, matching his colors appropriately.

He loves his forever daddy.

And he even persuaded Trey to do a backbend with him!  Oh, the energy of youth!

Set Aside

Each person at our Thanksgiving feast was furnished with a handful of beans by which to count their blessings.  It is a tradition that our family initiated several years ago. 

 As the Thanksgiving cup is passed, each person drops in a bean and communicates one of the ways God has blessed them in the past year.  The cup continues to pass until all beans are utilized and various thanksgiving have been related.  It is a beautiful time set aside to share our blessings. 

We have so much to be thankful for. . .

Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good;  his love endures forever.

 ~1 Chronicles 16:34

Deer Harvest

The deer harvest at Providence Prairie was abundant this year.  Trey and Mark both were blessed with meat for the freezers!

Mark got a doe while Trey got a ten-point buck.

Amanda, pregnant as she is, is using her taxidermy skills to mount the head for him.

Look for the finished product later.

Service at McLeansboro Healthcare

Some of our church family once again traveled to McLeansboro Healthcare for a Sunday service for the folks there on November 21st.

We shared in the Word. . .

We sang together. . .

broke bread together. . .

prayed together. . . .

and fellowshiped together.

And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.

Macedonia Methodist Church

On Sunday, November 4th, 2010, our family presented the music program for the Macedonia United Methodist church's Holiday Potluck Dinner.

Good food, good fellowship, and hopefully some good music were enjoyed by all.

More Time For Chatting

We enjoyed a visit with Dennis, Adele, and Mom McDaniel.  On this visit, we did not have loads of work to accomplish like our visit with Julie and her family, so we enjoyed a little more time for chatting!

We were able to talk and discuss many matters of the day.  Always enjoyable.

Of course, with the story telling and reminiscing, there had to be a little music!  All about the story of the Mexican guitar- if you hadn't figured that one out!  :)

And of course, crossword puzzles, Scrabble, and other games gave lots of food for thought!

Mark did have one little job to accomplish before the rain came. . . .

The bank of the north water pond had become overgrown with willows.

After grubbing, digging, hauling and rooting out the overgrowth, it looked much better!  Thank you everyone!

Oh The Joy Of Music!

We were practicing for our singing engagement, when what happened next?  We became diverted.  We found ourselves flipping the pages through the Bluegrass Picker's Tune Book and having such fun singing and playing what we found there!  Music is like that.  It can calm you when you are tense, it can revive you when you are tired, and it can always be so much fun sharing together!

Dad and Clair even started tapping their feet to the music and adding a little twirl or dip here and there!

Yes, our practice session was good, but the happy time spent together as family is a memory to be cherished!
