Our Visit with Mr. Green Snake and Other Family Events

Birthdays were abundant in May. Happy, happy birthday to so many!

Amongst our festivities, this bright green fellow joined in the fun. Mr. Rough Green Snake was a joy to hold and admire as he twined with agility in and out of our fingers.
We have an awesome, amazing God to have created such an intricately designed creature as the wiggly Mr. Green Snake.
He never seems to have a bad temper, and having teeth so small that they can cause no harm, he is such fun to hold.

Once he enters his natural habitat in the leaves, his excellent ability to climb and superb camouflage hides him in such a way that you very easily loose him from sight.

And a very happy birthday to our young viking! May God richly bless you. A combination of buttercream and fondant transformed this cake into an appropriate Norseman's protective helmet.

Bird Count 2010

It was once again time to count the birds in Hamilton County to participate in the state wide bird count. Off we trekked through the fields and woods of Providence Prairie.

On the way, we found several box turtles- an eastern and two westerns.

Looking up into the treetops, we spotted several species of birds.

Along the way, we noted a small frog.

It was a fun day of identifying flora and fauna here on the farmstead!

The New "Shorn" Look

It is sheep shearing time here on Providence Prairie.

Each ewe is carefully positioned to our best advantage as her wool is sheared and collected for later spinning.

Shearing must be in the air, because Clair convinced Trey to become clean shaven as well!
Off it comes!

It has been a long time since he had no beard.

Oh my! Even the mustache is going?
Sure enough!

I just wonder. . . .

if there is enough hair left in the sink. . .

with enough crimp to spin?

Ryan and Amanda Return To Providence Prairie

After having been married just over one month, Ryan and Amanda arrived to visit, share, and enjoy time spent together with family at Providence Prairie. We had a great time visiting and catching up on all the latest news.

It was so good to see their smiling faces.

Amanda milked Cheesecake just to keep in practice! :)

Her hands are as strong as they ever were!

Ryan even tried his "hand!"

Yep! He has the country in him!
We enjoyed our time spent together, but it was sad to see them go.

We love you both!
